Abstract
This seminar will be devoted to discussing cutting-edge research in the areas of psycholinguistics, with special emphasis on pragmatic language understanding, the relation between language and thought, and syntactic processing. A wide range of issues will be discussed, including the following: The grammatical and interactional construction of space by means of deictic expressions and visible bodily activities; local coherences in syntactic processing; automaticity vs. controllability of pragmatic processes; psycholinguistic investigations into comprehension processes of figurative communication. This seminar is particularly addressed to students who intend to conduct psycholinguistic experiments or other types of studies on these or related topics (e.g., in the form of a termpaper or MA. Thesis). Discussions will be held in English and/or German.
Important: Students interested in the seminar are requested to send an e-mail to lars@cognition.uni-freiburg.de for further information.
Scheinbedingung ist ein Referat und eine Hausarbeit.
